Local link building is an artform unto itself, and you’ll need to tackle it in isolation for the best results

Over the years many people have tried to game the system by creating content that is stuffed full of keywords in the hope that repeating their keyword phrases over and over again will in some way get them to the top spot of Google. While this tactic may have worked in the 90’s and early 2000’s it is time to put this to bed and stop creating content that is written solely for the search engines. These search engines have evolved and now recognise and reward natural language so the best piece of advice is to write naturally and for humans. Similar toduplicate content, scraped content are parts of your articles that someone pasted into their own. Scrapers will frequently add bits and pieces of content from your pages to the content that is often unrelated to the subject of the original. Over the past few years the way we use search engines have changed. We no longer just type words into search engines, we can speak to our phones and search by asking questions, or we can use smart assistants on devices such as Google Home to answer queries for us. SEO is simply not as hard as people pretend like it is; you can get 95% of the effort with 5% of the work, and you absolutely do not need to hire a professional SEO to do it, nor will it be hard to start ranking for well-picked key terms. As other search engines become the default Web browsers instead of Google, it makes sense to optimize for those search engines as well.

How long does SEO take?

In the past, Google has stated that the country within which a website is hosted is a very small factor in their international ranking algorithms. So try to have servers set up in your target countries. For example, if your company is based in the UK and you have a .fr extension of your site, have the .fr domain extension site hosted on a server in France. Make sure that the pages on your site are well-linked to each other, particularly the ones you want to appear as sitelinks – Google takes the number of internal/external links into account when judging the importance of pages for sitelinks. How bad hosting can lead to losing SEO rankings Downtime of your website can lead to vastly decreased performance in organic search. Social media is another traffic acquisition avenue that can be pursued by website owners. Promoting to your social media following is great, but this type of traffic isn’t necessarily new traffic. Google has told the SEO community time and time again that social media signals have no impact on search rankings that that social is not a direct ranking signal.

Learn where your target market is hanging out online

Satisfy your users’ intent. Give them the information they seek! Perhaps they are searching for formal wear. So, you are trying to rank for those things, tuxedos and formal dresses or wedding outfits, which are tough to rank for. Whenever possible, avoid changing URL structures. The easiest way to prevent broken redirects is to avoid creating the redirects in the first place. Machines are writing stories and that is often something Google is not a fan of. Backlink indexing is important for SEO. If you have large sections of duplicate text page-to-page – that is a problem that should be targeted and removed. The days of hiring freelancers to create hundreds of small keyword-stuffed articles are over.

Optimization ensures the Website is organized efficiently and succinctly

Gaz Hall, a Freelance SEO Consultant from SEO Hull, commented: "Basically a search engine searches the web using automated programs called web crawlers. The crawlers follow links from page to page, they then send a copy of each page back to the search engine, which then builds an index of the words on each page." Do your maths - its one of the primary resources for this sort of thing.Write great title tags. Good title tags should be like an interesting newspaper headline but with relevant keywords included. At some stage you are going to have a large list of potential keywords. We need to find a way of picking the best ones to concentrate on. Within this we want a mix of head and long-tail terms. A fully mobile-optimized website will be easy to read and play smoothly on even the smallest mobile device screens. Images should be able to be easily enlarged and the navigation should be smooth and easy to follow. Other best practices that we have in SEO are things where we will take a keyword and will essentially just make our keyword research very limited to the ones that have produced high returns.

Your focus should be on what matters to your audience

The key is to consistently deliver value so that people come to your site for answers. And this is also ironically what will get other good sites to link to your site. This is the perfect example of ‘emergent SEO’. The digital environment is rapidly shifting. There are over a billion websites online, and customers have countless brands to choose from when seeking solutions to their needs. Seek out industry-relevant and locally-relevant links from groups and websites with which you already have an offline relationship. If you’ve been producing content in a haphazard manner, hoping and praying that some of it eventually ranks, it’s time to buckle down and commit to a more methodical SEO content strategy for the web. Ideally page titles should include the search term for which the website has been optimized.

While your content marketing should be crafted carefully to meet SEO requirements, such as by including keywords, the success and popularity of your actual content will be the real force behind the rise of your web page in the search rankings. Like many of the other parts of the page targeted for optimization, filenames and alt text (for ASCII languages) are best when they're short, but descriptive. Search Console shows your average position for each of the keywords you rank for and how many impressions and clicks this brings you. Either apiece of content can help your website’s search engine rankings or it can hurt your rankings. It used to be that buying backlinks as you could was a successful means of boosting your organic search results. But today, it’s definitely not good to buy them in big packages. Google has declared that if you buy bulk backlinks to improve your rankings, you're breaching their guidelines.
